Bourke is located in New South Wales, Australia.

The Back of Bourke is more than a geographic location, it's part of the Australian language, part of the folklore. Bourke provoked author Henry Lawson to write after his visit in 1893, 'If you know Bourke, you know Australia.'

Be you a photographer, naturalist, historian, reader of bush literature, bird watcher, visitor from overseas or just an Aussie looking to discover your roots, pack up your swag and come 'Back o' Bourke'

The best way to really get your bearings in Bourke is to start at the Tourist Information Centre in Anson St. (phone 02 6872 1222). A highly informative display will orient you to Bourke's past and present and the friendly staff there will help you with all the necessary information to make your stay enjoyable.

The Tourist Office offers travellers general information, including road reports, weather reports and do it yourself Mud Map tours, you may have heard of in the past. We have a great selection of souvenirs for sale and a great display of photos and history of the Bourke district. We also offer 3.5 hour tours for a small fee to the many attractions close to the Bourke township that includes a Vineyard, Cotton farm and Gin in season plus much more.

'Back of Bourke' mini bus tours leave the Bourke Tourist Information Centre each Monday to Friday at 2 pm and Saturday at 9:30 am.
